Many have considered the Canon 1 DC DSLR to be overpriced since it’s release in April 2012. At that time, the 1 DC retailed for a whopping $12,000. While it was the only 4K DSLR on the market then, now there are cameras like the Blackmagic 4K camera that retail for about $8,000 dollars less. This week the, Canon finally made their move and dropped the 1 DC price by a whopping $4,000.
The price drop is already in effect and you can currently order a Canon 1 DC from B&H for just $7,999.
Of course, some who already owned the camera are very upset because the feel like they lost a large portion of resale value overnight. In modern times with technology changing constantly, can you really be upset though? Basically any tech item you own is losing value every day, simply because over time it becomes obsolete. It is a fact of the digital world.
Others couldn’t help but laugh at the price drop because they feel the Canon 1DC is still overpriced.
