Last month, GoPro unveiled their newest action-camera in their popular Hero series, the Hero 6 Black. The Hero 6 Black outwardly looks exactly the same as the Hero 5, which means that you won’t have to buy all new mounts or accessories for the camera. Probably the most important feature of the Hero 6 is the introduction of the GP1 processor, which enables features that were previously unavailable, including the ability to record both 4K at 60fps, and 1080p at 240fps. This means you can get stunning slow-motion footage in full HD, and a much smoother ultra HD image. The GP1 processor also enables a new and improved stabilization algorithm that will result in images that look like they’ve been shot using a gimbal.
The Hero 6 Black offers major improvements to still photography as well, including a new touch-screen digital 2x zoom . The new GP1 processor offers better dynamic range and HDR capabilities, which will yield incredibly vibrant images with improved detail. Additionally, the Hero 6 Black can take exposures up to 10 seconds long, enabling users to take photos at night even with minimal light.
Another key update in the Hero 6 Black is the addition of 5GHz Wi-FI, which greatly speeds up the transfer of content to your phone for use with QuickStories. The GP1 processor analyzes camera motion and uses facial and audio recognition to automatically select and edit footage and cut it to music to create a QuickStory.
