In the past we have teamed up with some talented folks, like Young Replicant, to produce some awesome music videos for indie bands. A couple of months ago, director Michael Lei, contacted us with his music video concept for Crash Kings. The final video has arrived, and we couldn’t be happier to have been a apart of it.
One of the best things about being a younger rental house is that we’ve been able to grow with a lot of our clients. Director Josh Greenbaum was one of Stray Angel’s very fist clients back when the business was still being run out of our CEO’s Hollywood apartment. This week, Josh’s SXSW Award Winning documentary, ‘The Short Game’, gets its initial select city theatrical release.
RED made a splash at NAB this year by installing new Dragon sensors right on the showroom floor. With 6K resolution, 16 stops of dynamic range, and a native ISO of 2000, Epic owners were dying to know when they could upgrade. Well, Jared Land just let everyone on REDUser know that customer upgrades will begin the first week of September.
The H4N Zoom recorder has been a big hit for filmmakers shooting with DSLRs. It’s a great handheld recorder that allows you to use its microphone or plug in an external. It’s a few years old now and Zoom has just announced it’s replacement, the brand new Zoom H6.
While new camera’s tend to get all the buzz, we think that there’s a lot of reasons to get excited over the H6! Zoom is calling it the “most advanced portable recorder ever”. It offers six tracks of simultaneous recording and has interchangeable input capsules such as X/Y, MS, and Shotgun mics. Dual XLR/TRS combo capsules can also be purchased.
RED has finally launched a program that gives both students and schools a break on RED products. Discounts vary from product to product, generally 10-15% off. The RED Education Program will probably be more beneficial to schools since most student still cannot afford to drop tens of thousands of dollars on a camera. However, if you are lucky enough to afford it, now is definitely a good time to buy!
Redrock Micro debuted it’s One Man Crew at NAB this year and it looks Kessler has been working on something similar, the Parallax.
Both the One Man Crew and the Kessler Parallax are designed to automate slider moves. This is great for documentaries and interviews where crew is limited and every bit of production value counts.
