The GH2 (especially hacked ones) became a popular choice for indie filmmakers in the beginning of the DSLR video revolution. However, Panasonic has not done a very good job of keeping up with video trends and making a camera with specs that filmmakers really want. It does look like good news is on the horizon has rumors about a Panasonic 4K GH camera have begun to spread.
Over on 4/3 Rumors, possible specs of the 4K GH were posted:
- 1/8000 shutter
- 1 mil dot OLED viewfinder, 3,000+ dot
- Time Code
- 200mbps mp4 All-i/100mbps IPB
- 4:2:2 1-/8bit output
- 3G-SDI and XLR Adapter
Expected price: €2799
If it isn’t just a rumor, this could be a pretty cool camera at a decent price. 4K at up to 30fps for the price is great, but I feel they could make it a homerun if they could get 60p. A lot of shooters have not been happy with the lack of slow motion on cameras like the C100 and 5D Mark III.
Would you buy a 4K Panasonic GH camera?
