The much buzzed about Panasonic Lumix 4K GH4 now has an official price and release date. Previously, it had been speculated that the GH4 would be “under $2,000”. Most thought this meant it would probably be listed at $1999, but today Panasonic gave the official word the the 4K GH4 will list for $1698.

They also gave the GH4 of an official release date of early May 2014. So just after NAB these cameras will start hitting the shelves of retail locations. Currently, you can pre-order the camera from B&H.

We also got more information about the YAGH interface (or “brick” or “box” as some are calling it) from Panasonic. The YAGH gives you XLR inputs as well as the ability to output full 4:2:2 10-bit 4K. It will be priced at $1999. If you purchase both the YAGH box and the GH4 together, you can get a discount of almost $400.
