Front Head can also be rotated around the horizontal Axis by loosening the separation ring and pulling the front lens forward (to disengage locating pin) then rotate to the desired position and re-tighten the separation ring again.

The T-REX provides very high image quality as regards contrast, resolution and field flatness. Image quality also matches well with modern zoom and prime lenses. For ease of use, a filter slot allows for use of two 48mm filters.

Developed as an affordable 2x anamorphic FF option, the Xelmus Apollo primes are compact, sharp, and lightweight. Primes have special coatings for cool, streaky anamorphic flare, 2x squeeze and a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The Apollo primes are remarkably more affordable than FF anamorphics from competitors like Cooke and ARRI. 

Achieving the coveted anamorphic look has become simpler with the Apollo anamorphic primes from Xelmus. Primes have an impressive close focus of 25mm and lenses have a common front diameter of 104mm (except 32mm, 40mm with 114mm). There’s a 14-bladed iris for smooth flares. Visuals have less chromatic aberration and better light transmission than other anamorphic glass.

The Apollo primes have excellent mechanics. Light, compact, with NASA-themed red, white, black housing. Anti-mump system that restricts breathing to the vertical axis. Focus ring has a smooth 270° focal rotation. Although there isn’t a universal aperture, there is an impressively low T-stop on each prime, ranging from T1.7-T2.8. The updated “mother” lens adds contrast, brings more resolution and makes the lens faster. The signature blue flares are even more striking with less haze.

The square front Lomos are widely available but in many cases have been forgotten in to a shelf since their poorish mechanical condition.

This is a one of a kind set of Joe Dunton Camera (JDC) rehoused Todd-AO’s. Todd AO anamorphic lenses deliver a classic anamorphic look. They will give you images that have beautiful geometry, gradual, very linear barrel distortion, and big beautiful flares. They also are quite flattering, due to their lower contrast, and the fact that they do not cause “mumps” (stretching of people’s faces when shooting close-ups). They are sharp on center with sharpness gradually falling off toward the edges of frame. They are unique in many ways. Most of our focal lengths are very fast thanks to their Canon K35 spherical optics. If you want a very dreamy look, shoot them wide open. If you want a sharper cleaner look, stop down. Each lens gives you 2 to 3 looks depending on what stop you shoot at. Also unique with these lenses, some focal lengths focus closer than almost any other anamorphics out there. The 35mm T1.4 focus all the way down to 2 feet, and the 50mm is almost as good at just over 2 feet. This means you won’t be wasting as much time dealing with diopters.

We have Bausch & Lomb Super Baltar PL 5 Lens Sets available for rent at Stray Angel Films.

These wonderful lenses were the industry standard during the 1950s through the 1970s on films like The Godfather.  These lenses are great on digital and they really “take the edge off” digital sensors.   

The TLS lenses have a Cam follower design and common 110mm fronts.  The mechanical action on these lenses is incredible — just like a modern S4 lens, smooth with many spaced out focus marks.

The Bausch & Lomb Super Baltars were released in the early 1960s as a successor to the original Baltars. The Super Baltars were designed to be compatible with reflex 35mm film cameras, which had spinning mirrors, by using retrofocus optical designs for the wider lenses. They became popular for cinema lens choices for decades due to their impressive 20mm T2.3 focal length and slightly faster aperture of f2 (T2.3) compared to the original Baltars’ maximum aperture of f2.3 (T2.5). The lenses are known for their iconic blue/purple coatings, which produce warm-toned images with beautiful blue or purple flares depending on the white balance and light source. They are sharp on the center and have medium contrast, with softer edges than modern lenses. They also have a textured bokeh when used wide open.
