The Leitz Summilux-C PL mount lenses were designed to go head to head with Master Primes, and they deliver. High contrast lenses with a fast T-Stop of 1.4 across the set.
A decade ago, Leica decided that they wanted to go head to head with Zeiss Master Primes in the PL lens market. In late 2011, they debuted the new lens set, the Leica Summilux-C. Recently all Leica lenses have now become part of the the Leitz Cine brand and are now known as the Leitz Summilux-C Lens Set.
These lenses fast became a favorite of DP’s and shooters such as the late Harris Savides and Tom Lowe. It’s no wonder why, they have pretty much everything you would want in cinema lenses. They are built with high-quality materials and feature a fast T-Stop of 1.4.They are also more compact and lighter than most PL mount lenses.
One of the most desired characteristics of the Leitz Summilux-C lenses are the contrast. When using the lenses on a test projector, the black levels produced are higher than most other PL mount lenses and hold throughout the frame.
The glass is constructed of a new multi-aspheric design and high-precision cine lens mechanics that give you unmatched flat-field illumination across the frame.
The Leitz Summilux-C lenses all have the same length, 95mm threaded lens front, advanced distance focus scales, and similar location of focus and iris rings. Just another reason these lenses are a favorite of DPs and 1st ACs, quick and easy lens changes.
